Microsoft%u2019s Surface Pro price cut is now permanent: $100 off in the US and %u20AC100 across Europe - The Next Web.
Many speculate that Steve Ballmer's exit from Microsoft was partly caused by the Surface fiasco. The Surface RT , which wouldn't run third party Windows software, and was hundreds of dollars more expensive than other tablets, and was thick and heavier, was the first disaster. Then, when Microsoft finally put out the Surface Pro, which WOULD run Windows software, they gave it a tiny storage drive, and priced it in the stratosphere. Now, even with a $100 price cut, the thing is too expensive. $800? I will take my $600 ASUS ultralight, with a 256 Gig SSD drive, and Windows 8 any day. Microsoft needs to get a Surface that is thinner, lighter and cheaper. Otherwise, none of us are going to leave Apple or Google.
