7 reasons why blog post author should be lawyer, not law firm.
Kevin O'Keefe is absolutely right that blogging by lawyers needs to be from the individual lawyer, not a generic post from the law firm. His reasons are right; but, I can understand the corporate need to present a corporate face to the world. Organizations don't want individuals to upstage the employer. What if the lawyer leaves, and takes clients with him? Blogging and social media have changed the way we interact in profound ways. Readers and clients expect a personal relationship with the lawyers in a firm. That is one of the reasons I am a solo; clients will leave a firm that they hire because of an individual if they are passed along to an Associate or other lawyer. In the Internet age, we are connected to each other in more personal ways. We don't want a connection with an amorphous organization. But, I could be wrong.
