My post this morning got me thinking about John McKay, who was the wittiest, most quotable football coach of all time. Here is another one he dead-panned after a brutal loss:
"We didn't tackle very well today; but, we made up for it by not blocking".
or this:
"Emotion is highly over-rated in football. My wife, Corky is emotional as hell, but she can't play football worth a damn".
or this:
"If you have everyone back from a team that lost most of its games, experience isn't too important".
Or, the best of all time, when being questioned by a reporter after another ugly loss, the reporter said:
"Coach, what do you think of the execution of your offensive line?"
McKay shot back: "I'm in favor of it".
John McKay, a true American original. And, one hell of a football coach.
