Parrot Sunday - Cayman Parrot

Cayman Parrot. We spent some time this week in the Cayman Islands, where I photographed this mating pair of the Cayman Brac Parrot, which is a sub-species of the Cuban Parrot. Small, beautiful birds, these little guys are quiet and small versions of their larger cousins, the Amazons.

No, the FutureLawyer won't be buying Google Glass anytime soon. Too much stigma and too much in your face. But, it is nice to know that, if I ever change my mind, I will be able to buy them for my prescription frames. It's a safe bet these things will be banned in courtrooms all over the country.

While it makes sense that Samsung and Google, both married to Android, would be on the same patent team, it is certainly a broadside against Apple that they have, in effect, entered a mutual non-aggression pact by cross licensing all their patents for the next ten years. Apple looks more like a spoiled child wanting to take its ball and go home; while Samsung and Google are pointing the way to future innovation in the interest of the consumer. Well, Apple? Samsung throws money at Ericsson to end smartphone patent war. In addition to the recent peace treaty with Google (albeit a deal with an ally), Samsung has cross-licensed patents with Sony Ericson this week, and is clearly interested in phone innovation not litigation. Just when we thought Windows 8 couldn't get any worse, you are on the threshold of creating Windows 9? And, calling it threshold is a bit arrogant, given that we have been living in a crumbling house all along. While I have learned to live with Windows 8 by ignoring and bypassing "Metro", now known as "Modern", and using the familiar Windows 7 desktop, I have a hard time imagining what Windows 9 will look like. How does the old curse go? "May you live in interesting times".
