Microsoft confirms it's making Office for Android tablets, too - GeekWire. I don't use Microsoft Word much; but, I have an Office 365 subscription for the family. For a hundred bucks a year, all of us have current versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Access, and more. While the big news this week was the introduction of a mobile version of Office for the iPad, which is free if you are already an Office 365 subscriber, Microsoft is also making a version for Android tablets. But, the Google Play Store has had Word Mobile for some time now; and, while I seldom use it, it is there for me. What I do use on my phone, tablets, etc is OneNote, along with SNote, which is Samsung's note taking app. I much prefer my Sony Windows tablet, which comes with a keyboard, weighs less than 2 pounds, and has all of my productivity apps for real work. I don't need an Office version for my iPad. I don't own an iPad. If I want to work, I power up my Windows 8.1 tablet, and use WordPerfect X6, or Office 365 (Word 2013), or one of the other dozen or so Windows apps that get real work done. Work on.
