The Mistakes Lawyers Make with Social Media %u2014 Lawyerist. As the saying goes: "If I want to read another Personal Injury billboard ad, I will get in the car". I really don't want to read your ad for whatever legal service you provide on my Twitter feed, my Google+ stream, nor my Facebook page. I already know what you do because I drive to work every day and see your billboard. Jeez. Sam Glover is right about social media; it's the relationships, stupid. When I was teaching public speaking, the hardest lesson to teach, (really the only one) was: "Be yourself". This has several advantages. One, it is genuine. Two, you don't have to think about who you are going to act like today. Three, if people don't want to be around you, you know where you stand. So, young Jedi, just be who you are at all times; especially, on social media. Talk about what interests you. I guarantee that you will find others who share your passion. Of course, if you are a self-promoting jerk, I am afraid that I cannot help you.
