%u200BCan a Cheap Windows Tablet Replace Your Desktop?. Replacing a desktop or notebook PC for daily use with an 8 inch $300 Dell Venue Windows tablet is a stretch; but not by much. In fact, I have an 8 inch Windows tablet, a Thinkpad, and I have loaded all my stuff on it just to find out if I could practice law with it. I ran into the same problem, a non standard USB port used both for peripherals and for charging. That is a non starter for me, as I connect my computers to big screen monitors, and a bunch of USB 3.0 peripherals at home and at the office. However, step up to an 11.6 inch Windows tablet with a full sized USB 3.0 port and a separate charging port, and 128 gigs of memory and 4 Gigs of RAM and you have a suitable replacement for around $500. As I have said, I like the Sony Tap 11 so much I bought another one, which will replace my main computer if it dies, and Sony isn't making them anymore. So, my frugal friend, don't try to do the $300 tablet as a main computer; but, look around for alternatives in the $500 to $1,000 range, and you might be surprised at what you find.
