Here are Two Android Alternatives for Meerkat and Periscope | Droid Life. Having survived my high school reunion this past weekend, I confess that I was tempted to spend my time live streaming part of it for the benefit of classmates who couldn't be there. I did a little Google Hangout calling; but, the noise in the room, and spotty WiFi, made it difficult, if not impossible. So, I satisfied the urge to create a record with Facebook and photos. I was also tempted to try out the latest Internet craze, live streaming a few seconds or a few minutes over a Twitter feed. Meerkat for iPhone, and Twitter's own product, Periscope, have just been put in beta, and are already trending. Now, Android alternatives are becoming available, and, soon, we will have millions of people live streaming their lives. The more I thought about it, however, the more I realized that we need to start living our lives rather than recording them. I love being able to carry the phone around, and shoot photos for distribution on Facebook. It is a quick and easy way to connect and to share. But, there are limits on how much time we should devote to such things. So, this Monday, I am going to enjoy the day, work hard, remember those who are no longer with us, and pray for a tomorrow. Will you join me?
