Dwindling bird flock finds haven in Indian Shores | TBO.com and The Tampa Tribune. A few miles from my house, on the Gulf of Mexico in Indian Shores, a colony of Black Skimmers has a protected area of beach for their nesting. These beautiful birds are threatened by loss of habitat, and must share the beautiful beaches of Pinellas County with all of the humans who congregate here. Memorial Day weekend is a prime nesting time for both birds and humans. Okay, they aren't parrots; but, all birds are beautiful.
