However, many of us have already replaced some functions in the office with computers, and smartphones and smartwatches. What if we could put those functions in a moving, talking robot that followed us around waiting for our next instructions? Robots don't eat, don't require a salary and benefits, and never get sick. Okay, they may have computer malfunctions now and then; but, it isn't the same, is it? I understand that lawyers are being replaced by computers as well; especially in areas like document review, legal research, and other tasks that can be more efficiently performed by a computer. But, little guys like Buddy are likely to be the first wave of robots; primarily companions, with benefits like premises security, smart assistants with notifications and calendar reminders, and even performing mundane tasks around the home or office.
