Forget Standing Desks: Are You Ready to Lie Down and Work? | WIRED. When a good friend emailed me about this new desk yesterday, my first inclination was that I would never pay over $5,000 for a desk and chair to work. My second inclination was that if I wanted to lie down I would find a recliner or bed and go to sleep. The more I thought about it, however, the more I saw the benefits of this contraption. First, after my recent surgery, it has become more difficult to sit at a desk and work for long periods. I have to stop and rest at frequent intervals, which impairs productivity. In the reclined position, however, I can see this desk and chair helping all sorts of physically challenged workers. Second, I AM the FutureLawyer. Shouldn't I use a FutureDesk? But, alas, there is that $5,000 thing. I guess I will have to wait until a wealthy reader buys me one.
