Messenger - Android Apps on Google Play. It is rumored that Google Hangouts will be losing its ability to send and receive SMS text messages. On mobile devices, it is redundant, since Google Messenger is so good. However, while I never used Hangouts for messaging; it would be nice if there were a desktop version. I am perfectly happy with the third party PushBullet solution on my desktop, and I use my phone's Google Messenger when mobile. Messenger is fast, accurate, and very stable. What do you use?
MightyText on desktop, which syncs with an excellent mobile text program, SimplyText. I use this arrangement on my desktop, phone and tablets for text messages and it is excellent. Highly recommended.

I am partial to the native Verizon message app, Message+. It is perhaps the only good thing that Verizon does, other than provide strong cellular coverage. The app lets you message from phones, tablets and computer, and it turns your tablet into a another phone. Messages sync across all devices. I have tried many different messaging apps and
none surpass this.
