Once you learn these 22 Stoic truths from Marcus Aurelius, you'll be much stronger - Ideapod. You don't have to be a college graduate in Philosophy to understand and live Stoicism. Ignore the people who pretend to know everything. Live within yourself. There is a lot of wisdom in this list of Stoic truths; but, today I want to focus on one: the pursuit of fame. As a corolllary to this is the seeking of wealth, privilege, power, and whatever else this world has to offer the ambitious. Before you get into this cycle, read this truth, and ask yourself if it is worth it. Are you sacrificing your life to make partner in BigLaw? Are you working 20 hours a day in a frenzy to buy a big car, or a big house, or to satisfy the urges of a spouse or family? Not only will you die; but, all of your wealth and power and privilege and rank and titles will die with you. More importantly, all of the memory of you in those you spent your life trying to impress will die also. Will they remember you after they are dead? Didn't think so. Also remember that you don't need to be a College Philosophy Professor to live a good life. You just need to live a good life.
