It's Time to Say It: Retirement Is Dead. This Is What Will Take Its Place | Inc.com. As this author points out, it is time to rethink the antiquated concept of retirement. Now that many of us are living many years after the so-called retirement age, we should be considering what we really want to be doing; and, I don't mean sitting in a room in front of a TV. Since "Memento Mori" teaches us that nobody avoids death, it makes sense to use our time wisely, knowing that illness may put us in that room with the TV sooner or later anyway. So, if you are among the increasingly large group that is happy doing what you are doing, why not keep doing it? Solo law practice, developed over decades, is a great way to ensure that, so long as your brain works, and with age seasoned with wisdom, you can be a productive member of your community, and decide for yourself how hard you want to work. Making money doesn't hurt either; even though it isn't the main thing. So, if you are retired, remember you will die, and live every day as if it were your last. One day it will be. Enjoy.
