heather joi tennant | Maryland State Arts Council. My good friend, Heather Joi Tennant, is a Maryland artist, model, photographer and visionary, who is a beautiful human being, inside and out. I was attracted to her first by her comments on my poetry; but, I became a fan when I saw her complete dedication to creating beautiful art, both images and music and performance. I am supporting her work, and wanted to introduce her to my readers who are also interested in art that comes from the deeper places in our hearts. She has been described as an autodidactic, trans-disciplinary visionary artist, whose work is inspired by nature, symbolism, mythology, technical research, collaboration with other gracious artists, and experimentation. Sometimes her penchant to cover her beautiful face with natural objects like tree branches drives me nuts (he said smiling); but, she reaches places that most of us never think about. She inspires me. I hope she does the same for you. Enjoy.

This one is for all my cat lover readers who don't understand my fascination with the avian species. Parrots are highly intelligent, live 40 to 50 years, form life long bonds with humans and other birds, and are much more beautiful. That said, they also get along with cats. 

 

#WhyIAmASolo - I Am As Busy As I Want To Be

Lawyers just aren't working hard enough report says. Who measures these statistics? The Washington Post recently published an article stating that more than half of law firms report that their partners aren't busy enough. Altman Weil reports that 83% of lawyers in surveyed firms are chronically underperforming. Who says? Is this a function of hours worked, hours billed or money collected? Is anyone measuring job satisfaction, home life or travel plans? In my law practice I perform just fine, thank you. Why? Because I get to decide how many hours to work every day. I get to decide whether I have enough work to do. And, if I don't, I go to the movies. Get a grip, fellow counselors. And, while you're at it, get a life. Jeez.

The Dichotomy Of Control And The Lawyer

Lawyers spend most of their time in an attempt to persuade others (Judges, juries, clients, opponents) to act, or not act, in a way that is beneficial for their clients. However, it is important to realize that, after doing our best to persuade, we need to embrace and accept the result. In our news, we see nothing but attempts to control the actions of others. Special interest groups attempt to stifle the free speech of others for political gain. They boycott merchants who don't share their political views. These attempts to control the behavior of others are doomed to failure, even if there are short term successes. Because, as this little video discusses, we can only control our own self and our own actions. What if everyone finally accepted this truth? What if we all just did our best, and then accepted our fate? Amor Fati.

Samsung might save Android smartwatches from irrelevance | Ars Technica. The hot news in Smartwatches is that Samsung may make a Wear OS watch soon. If so, the use of Samsung's faster chips, and manufacturing expertise, may save the Wear OS platform. I alternate between a Gear S3, which is easily the fastest, smoothest, and best Smartwatch out there, in addition to being classically beautiful in its design, and a Wear OS LG Watch Urbane, which is nicely designed, and made in gold; but, sports a slow Qualcom chip and doesn't have an LTE phone chip in it. Give me a Samsung Wear OS watch with an LTE chip, and I am yours forever.
