Teens Fail to Steal Woman's Car Because of Manual Transmission. I love this story. Millennials are missing out on one of life's rites of passage. Learning how to drive a manual transmission was the highlight of my high school driving school training. Driving my 1961 Volkswagen Beetle around during high school was exercise in and of itself. Trying to make out in the front seat with the most beautiful girl I had ever seen while negotiating the Shift knob and the emergency brake ripped a tear in my best, and only, suit. That was fun, trying to get it repaired without mom's knowledge. I would love to be a fly on the windshield of a modern car, (or even an older one) one with a manual transmission while a millennial is trying to steal it.
