Augmented reality is coming to your car - Roadshow. Overlaying digital information on our perceived reality is a way to bring the power of computing to our lives in a userful way. Heads up displays on car windshields will likely be the proving ground for AR apps, and I can't wait. Of course, Smartglasses that project computer data onto our glasses have been around; but, aren't mainstream. If virtual reality takes us completely out of the real world and into a virtual world, augmented reality keeps us in the here and now. I foresee apps that project legal information on to the glasses of lawyers in court. What if you could bring up documents and case law with your voice, and see it before projecting it to a screen or monitor? Computers will provide their magic to all sorts of appliances in the future, and will enrich and enhance the human experience. I hope I live long enough to see it.
