Six Sigma Is A Fraud. This is an interesting take on one of the management buzzwords that has been around for a while. Whether you call it Total Quality Managment (TQM), or Lean Six Sigma, or some other buzz phrase, large organizations love to create big projects that purport to make the organization more efficient or productive, or profitable. It's all about more money; but, it is couched in terms of improving customer experience. As this veteran of Six Sigma projects discloses, it isn't often that these projects actually improve the bottom line. Look at it from the perspective of the employees who lose their jobs. Is Six Sigma and its relatives just a cover for reducing payroll? If I start a Six Sigma project at Futurelawyer, I don't have to go far to identify the least productive employee of the firm. I don't have to spend a lot of time figuring out how to use my resources more efficiently. Of course, I am the only resource. Hmmm.. should I fire myself? I don't think so. Let's eliminate all the buzz words. Let's create an environment in which all employees of a company feel valued, and have their ideas respected and encouraged. Save the buzz words for politics. They need something to hide their ignorance. Jeez.
