Notre Dame VR Before And After. Perhaps one of the most beautiful and iconic destinations in the world, the Notre Dame Cathedral has been a place of wonder for many centuries. The tragic fire last year has made it inaccessible to visitors, as the five year rebuilding project proceeds. However, through the magic of Virtual Reality, I spent an hour today walking around inside and out, and stood in the middle of the Church near the altar, which was damaged severely when the wooden spire fell. I didn't have to buy a plane ticket, or make a hotel reservation, or risk being exposed to a virus. I was immersed in the place while sitting in my chair. Whatever VR is, or will become, it is a passport to the world. It can also be a way to show jurors a scene without having to bus them there. It can be used in trials to show the trier of fact what it was like being there. You don't have to be a gamer to love the Oculus Quest; although I am learning to fly an ultralight airplane with it as well. While we are home and office bound for a few months, we can use the time to do so many things that make being alive fun. Stop complaining about being homebound. Live your life. You never know how much of it you have left.
