Sometimes, parrots can be afraid of toys, even after bonding with a human. It is important to keep the parrot involved with her environment, and the natural urge to forage and chew can be satisfied with brightly colored wood or plastic toys. It also helps to have more than one parrot as the flock mentality will keep them interested. But, what if a parrot isn't interested? Due to their high intelligence, they can be trained to understand that the toy isn't dangerous, and can be fun. This trainer shows how. This one reminds me of Rio.

Matters Of The Heart. I was honored this morning to learn that Ray Visotski, a blogger friend and deep thinker, had posted about my Obituary poem, written after the death of SWMBO. His point about funerals in which we all speak the same "truth" about the deceased and our relationships, and our inability to speak out loud from our heart, makes the point wonderfully. Why aren't we completely open about death? Is it because we fear it? Why do we grieve? Is it grief for our own loss? Death should be a dinner served in the open, not a meal eaten in privacy.

Virtual Legal Conferences. Nikki Black makes the case for virtual conferences that use Avatars to replicate the connection experience of the real thing. Ever since I played around with Second Life a decade ago, I have been intrigued with the possibility of a virtual world populated with avatars that allowed humans to interact with other humans in a virtual space. I even created a virtual law library in which my avatar could walk up to a bookshelf and take down a virtual book. The technology wasn't ready, though, and the jury is out whether it is now. No Fans In The Stands? Advantage Rays.

MLB Implements 60 Game Schedule For 2020. When baseball begins in late July for a Coronavirus shortened 60 game season, the prognosticators are already predicting which teams will benefit from the shortened season. However, I think it is clear that the Tampa Bay Rays will have a huge advantage over the other MLB teams. The new rules will prohibit fans in the stands, and the Rays have been playing with no fans in the stands for years. I predict a first World Series championship for my home team. They have been there and done that.

COMMUNION.

He remembered a little girl
in a white dress.
She was making her First Communion.
She approached the altar
in purity and innocence.
Her innocence would be betrayed
by a future filled with guilt,
and regret for the sins
that religion doomed her to commit.
He wondered whether that was
what must be.
The poet spoke of music
as the food of love.
Would she feed him
from her soul?
When he held her in his arms,
and approached the altar,
he felt her purity
and wanted it to wash away his sins.
It felt like holiness.
He was lifted up
on a cloud of joy
into the heavens.

He felt her loss
with a dying desperation.
He was a sinner
without a confessor.

Was there a heaven for him?
