Mitigating Chaos Revisits George Washington. This post highlights one of my biggest reasons for practicing law solo. Washington's Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior are a great guide to living life. His rule about the nature of business meetings, and their utility, or lack thereof is instructive.

“Let your discourse with men of business be short and comprehensive.”

Solo practice allows me to have some control over my discourse with men of business. Certainly, I can't control meetings with Judges and such; but, I can control the rest of it. Thanks for the reminder, Ray.
