Disney Making Guests Wear Masks At Table, And Only Removing Between Bites?

Disney Tightens Mask On Face Requirements When Dining. Disney is the most woke corporation on the planet. First, they fire Gina Carano from the Mandalorians because she has a political view contrary to theirs. Now, they are going all in for the mask everywhere routine. I believe that masks help; but, getting so crazy that you have to keep them on at the dinner table unless you are putting food or liquid in your mouth is insane. A day at Disney is hot and tiring enough. If Disney thinks they are ever getting any of my money again, they are nuts. I had many happy memories at Disney. However, overpriced entertainment is available in many other places. The only thing Disney and corporations of their ilk will ever understand is the Almighty Dollar, and I am spending mine elsewhere.

This one died suddenly.
That one passed away peacefully.
Another died in an accident.
All died too soon.
All died leaving loving relatives and friends.
Some had many of them.
Their obituaries were long.
Some had fewer of them.
Their obituaries were short.
The obituary page
is required reading
for those of us
who need to know if we are dead.
We all wonder what our obituary will say.
We all know that we will have one written some day.
I don’t want to go out that way.
I want to write the words
that won’t be remembered
beyond the pages thrown away.

We Are A Society Of Doers. Maybe We Should Spend Some Time Thinking About It.

A Missing Item On ToDo Lists. Execupundit has a habit of making me think. This time, however, he has got me thinking about thinking. We are always taught that things get done only if we prioritize them, list them, and then dutifully check items off the list. Lawyers are trained to schedule actions in a case, and list making is taught at the earliest levels of education. This is a very efficient way to get things done. But, doing things is always the focus. We don't spend enough time thinking about what should be done. Thinking is often denigrated in our performance oriented society. Others consider us lazy unless some overt activity is going on. One of the benefits of solo law practice is that we get to spend a lot of time sitting at a desk, thinking. We get paid for the thoughts in our heads. Of course, we have to spew knowledge on occasion; and, it is too easy to become sedentary; but, on the whole I think a lot. Now, if you want to discuss what I am thinking about, that is another topic, entirely. Try to set aside some time, every day, to just think. Maybe schedule it, and put it on your ToDo list.

Amazon Executive Fired For Upgrading A Travel Flight. I don't have a dog in this fight between an Amazon executive and Amazon. He used a company credit card to upgrade a long flight to Business Class, claiming he tried to get an exemption for medical reasons. He also was involved in a situation where his assistant was secretly recording him and reporting dirt to management. Ah, the joys of working with other folks. Even small firm lawyers have been victimized by duplicitous employees. My rule has always been that the fewer other employees you have around you, the less likely betrayal is an option. I know, I know, life comes with risk, and association with good people can be life enhancing. But, if you are going to work in an environment filled with other people's policies, rules and regulations, you are tempting fate. In any event, in a solo law practice, I set company travel policy, which is "what can I afford, and is this trip really necessary?" Pick your poison, counselor.

While I had only a Minor in Communications, I feel Alex's pain. I had the only other major with fewer employment prospects, English Literature. Thank goodness, I was faced with a choice of VietNam or grad school, and picked Law School. Since then, I have been unemployment proof. Close call.

Zoom Fatigue Is Real And Now We Know What Causes It. You know, by now, what it is like. When you are on a Zoom call, you are constantly looking at the camera so your correspondent doesn't think you are ignoring them. You are trapped in your chair, unless you make an excuse. Everything seems forced. Phone calls and emails leave you with a sense of control, and in person meetings do also. So, when considering a Zoom call, think about whether it is necessary, and whether email would be sufficient. For lawyers required to attend Zoom hearings and trials, consider that the old ways of traveling to, dressing for, and sitting in courtrooms, had their own stressors, and count your blessings.

Why We Like Teddy Bears.

Everybody, in their tender years, seems to have some stuffed animal or creature that gives them comfort. It is about feeling safe, I think. Our parents want us to know that we are secure. My brother, Marty, loves to wind me up, and can be very annoying. But, he has acquired a huge collection of family photos that he is publishing on the Internet, and bring back many memories. This one, with my Dad and my favorite Teddy Bear, is now one of my favorites. He died when I was 5, and there are very few images of him while still alive. I challenge all of my readers to post photos of their teddy bears or other early life creatures and friends. In challenging times, we need to share what is common to all of us.
