Goldman Sachs Promises Junior Bankers Saturdays Off. Why would anyone work for a company that allows, or requires, employees to work 110 hours a week? It took a complaint video from junior bankers at Goldman Sachs to get the CEO to state that he would "try" to make sure the Saturday off rule is enforced in the company. But, in large corporations, like some BigLaw firms, these rules are more aspirational than real. The bottom line is what counts in large corporate organizations, and rules are required to keep the troops in line. What a sad existence, even though it might be lucrative, to be chasing money all day, every day. Life is about today, and the certainty of death should make clear to us that no amount of money can ever make up for the fact that, someday, we will be dead. I want to spend today living, not working towards some goal of having a lot of money to spend on a tomorrow that may never come. Fellow lawyers, be careful what you wish for.
