Why I Prefer Being A Mobile Lawyer In An RV To Being In A Hotel Or Motel.

RV Over Hotel. While the Pandemic had a lot to do with my purchase of a used RV last year, it was other factors that make me happy I did. Not having to spend hours in airport waiting areas, and crowded airplanes, and renting cars, and worrying about other people, and paying a lot of money for a single ticket, and sleeping in a space that only had my imprint on it, and having inexpensive drinks and snacks available all the time, and having a work area that I was comfortable in, and not having to pack and unpack all the time, and not worrying about who cleaned my space, and whether they did a good job, and being able to come and go whenever I wanted to, were the primary reasons I am happy with purchase. Don't be fooled by the huge prices that recent vintage RVs command. No plus hundred thousand purchases for us. You can get a great RV for no more than the price of a good, used car, if you spend time looking. Mobile lawyering isn't much different these days, wherever you go, and however you get there. Smartphones, tablets and computers, which can connect to the Internet anywhere in the country that has mobile phone access, and Internet access that makes TV antennas and Satellite antennas and cable TV obsolete, make you a lawyer wherever you want to be, and it doesn't matter if you drive in an RV or fly in a plane. Of course, the RV allows you to see much of the real USA on the ground. RV travel isn't without its problems, of course. Equipment malfunction, and accidents, and all the other things than can happen on a road trip, can create a bad day. But, automobiles suffer all the same maladies, and airplane travel has a whole host of problems. So, while I will practice law until the end, I will take some time to smell the roses of this country, while being really a mobile lawyer, and keeping in touch with that modern marvel of communication, the Internet. Disney World Crowds and Long Lines. Let's see. Disney goes woke, and cancels characters because of their politics. Disney cancel Annual Passes for loyal Florida residents who spent thousands over years. July and August lines in 100 degree heat get even longer. You now have to have a reservation to get into Disney World. Remember the Magic Bands that allowed you to get a FastPass for up to three rides a day? Gone. Oh, and free speech went to Disney World to die. I have a final message for the woke suits at Disney. Goodbye.

It seems a long time ago; but, almost two years ago, I lost my beautiful Scarlet Macaw, Savannah. She hated everyone in the world but me, and her bonding to me was special. At my age, it would be selfish to replace her, even though I love the beauty of the Scarlets. Of course, losing a pet is nothing like losing a spouse or significant other. But, both losses can be opportunities for us to recognize that everyone and everything dies, sooner or later. It serves no rational purpose to waste valuable time being immobilized by it. I find joy in her memory, and in the memory of my lost spouse, and am busy making new happy memories. What are you doing with your life?

Cockatoos Are Dumpster Diving, And Now They're Learning From Each Other. I have always been asked about my fascination for parrots, and I have touted their beauty and intelligence. Evidence of their beauty is undeniable, as their feathers come in all colors of the rainbow. But, they are also highly intelligent, and there are ample evidences of that in their behavior. In Australia, the home of the Cockatoo species, they are teaching each to forage for food in plastic garbage cans, by lifting the covers off. Case closed.

He waved a red flag,
and she kept coming.
Her intentions known,
his defenses down,
he was dead meat on the hoof.

As he lay dying on the ground,
he looked up into sparkling eyes,
deep as an ocean,
and wondered where his heart might be.

His lips sank into her melting mouth.
He was lost in a moment’s passion.

#WhyIAmASolo - Fewer Things To Worry About.

For much of my life, I have been a chronic worrier. Lawyers have to worry about a lot of things, so that they can advise their clients how to avoid bad consequences. They also worry about how to limit the damage from consequences that have already happened. Fear and anxiety are part of the job description. So, learning about the uselessness of worry is a life skill that takes a lifetime to learn. Stoicism teaches that we should expect bad things to happen, since they always do. But, rather than spend time worrying about them, we should be prepared for them, and accept them as they come, as if we wanted them to happen. Ultimately, the biggest worry of all, death, will come to us all. Most likely, it will be accompanied by pain and illness; but, it can also come in a moment. So, what good does it do to freeze in place, and be afraid to take a step, out of worry? Of course, the rational man will reason that it does no good whatsoever. Once you know this, you are well on your way to living a happier life. Grab the little victories. Grab the fun moments. When you make mistakes, and you will, don't paralyze yourself with worry. Deal with it. Move on. And, be happy.
