Cultural Offering offers this interesting quote today:
“In the past decade, researchers have begun to appreciate the importance of a two-way communication that occurs between microbes in the gastrointestinal tract and the brain, known as the gut–brain axis.”
Unfortunately, my microbes seem to be telling my brain to desire donuts, cake, ice cream and other carbohydrate treats. Perhaps what is needed is for researchers to cut off the communication, and to tell the brain to shut up.
