In keeping with today's theme of Springtime weekends, here is an oldie but goodie. In the Spring, a young man's fancy.
He had spent his forty days in the desert
He wanted a drink of water
and wine.
The rest of the world
was snowing;
but he sought the affection
of a woman
who resisted his advance.
The boys of summer
were practicing in the spring sun,
getting ready
for heated combat
on the field of dreams.
He still thought only of her beautiful
skin,
and her beautiful body.
She charmed him with her reticence.
He wanted her more.
She warned him that spring brought new growth
and change.
She counseled caution.
She spoke the words of winter,
but moved with a body of spring.
He wanted her
with the sizzle of a summer sun.
As their voices quietly danced the dance of lovers,
he impatiently and expectantly
awaited the coming of the rosebud.
