Wayne Dyer was a bright man. He took ideas from the ancients, and packaged them for a twentieth century audience. My favorite quote: "Regret and Worry are useless emotions." Regret about past events has absolutely no purpose, other than to waste time we do have in the present. Worrying about the future is likewise useless. It never comes, and can only take time from our present that we have too little of already. Similarly, blaming others for our troubles is useless. It changes nothing. We can't control it. Every attack on another, however justified, won't give us one moment of peace in the present. Every lawyer hears about blame all the time. Our legal system is designed to extract money from people or organizations that do negligent or evil things. But, money extracted from another, after pitched court battles and a lot of time and anguish, never makes us happier. Stop blaming others for your lot in life. Start changing what needs to be changed by making decisions that are within your power. Number one. Realize that you get to choose what happens next. You can choose to be happy. Every lawyer needs to realize that she is in the blame game; but, that doesn't mean she has to play the game in her personal life. Now, go be happy today. See what happens.
