GETTING DOWN TO THE BASICS — FREE NOTA TRUST ACCOUNTING RESOURCE This coming month, the Florida Bar will become the first State Bar to provide free accounting software to its members, in order to provide a standard solution for Florida lawyers to comply with Bar accounting rules. Nota is the software provider, and I, along with many Florida lawyers, will be taking a look at the new offering. While I, along with many other lawyers, have used Quicken and QuickBooks to perform online reconciliation and bank account management for many years, I am curious to see whether the free offering will be easy to use and compatible with current systems. Regardless, it is heartening to see the Bar take steps to help grunt lawyers meet Bar standards for bank accounting and reconciliation. I will report again after the demo software becomes available.
