Hushme Headset - The Truth, And Some Weird Techies Are Out There

Hushme may be the weirdest -- yet most useful -- wireless headphone ever created - CNET. There are people I would like to put this on; but, I value my life. So, I will just say that, if you wear one of these in public, I don't know you. In fact, if you wear one of these in public, I will wonder if an alien is about to burst from your chest and destroy the planet. I get the idea; you don't want people to read your lips while you are talking on the phone. But, if you need privacy for a call, how about going into a room with a door? Or, tell your caller you will call them back when you aren't making a fool of yourself in public? Jeez.

CES 2017 Is History - What Will Endure?

CES 2017 Excellence Awards: The Best New Tech. Now that CES 2017 is history, the next question is what new tech or updated tech will endure? What innovations will catch on? The answer, of course, is a matter of opinion; but, you could do worse than the staff of Gotta Be Mobile. The big winner was the Dell XPS 13 2 in 1. I love my Samsung Flip 2 in 1; but, the new Dell is actually thin and light enough to feel like a tablet in tablet mode. It is also full of high end specs for under $1,000. While I don't need to upgrade right now, this one will be high on the list when I do. If you are a Chromebook fan, you should look at Samsung's new Chromebook Plus, which is one of the new Chromebooks that has access to the entire Android app library. Android apps are the future of the Chromebook franchise. She who someday will be obeyed got a little Polaroid camera for Xmas, showing that retro can succeed with new tech. A better version will be coming out in 2017, and instant paper photos are a hit again with the millennials. There is more; but, you have to read the article to find out. Enjoy.

CES 2017: Google Assistant Comes To Android TV

CES 2017: Google Assistant is Coming to Android TV, Android Wear - Thurrott.com. I have been enjoying Android TV on my Xiaomi Mi Box that SWMBO got me for Xmas. With a $6 a month subscription to CBS All Access, I have been streaming old Perry Mason episodes, and old Star Trek episodes, and have access to Netflix, Amazon Prime, and many other channels. Who needs cable? But, Google announced at CES 2017 that Google Assistant will be coming to Android TV, and you will soon be able to control you environment with your voice. Think about marrying the TV with your Amazon Echo (Alexa), or your Google Home speakers. The future looks bright for tech, and I am glad to have some more time on this earth to enjoy it. "OK Google". "Play all 123 episodes of Perry Mason, in sequence, starting now." "Oh, and Google". "Periodically, bring me food".

CES always has new and cool gadgets for the gadget lover. CES 2017 is no exception. The Hover Camera is a foldable drone that you launch and it follows you around shooting 360 degree video. Think of it as your dog drone, as it records your life events. This thing would be cool at weddings and other family events. You can enjoy the event without carrying bulky camera equipment around. 

Alexa Now Lives In Your Refrigerator - CES 2017

Welcome to 2017, where Alexa even made its way into a fridge | TechCrunch. Amazon has already hit a home run with Alexa. You know technology has arrived when it is adopted by SWMBO and She Who Someday Will Be Obeyed. We have Alexa devices in several rooms in our house, and, just about every day, big cardboard boxes are delivered with household items in them. "Alexa, order paper towels", and "Alexa, order this or that" have become part of our family's lexicon. I love that we don't run out of paper towels or toilet paper anymore. But, now, with the new refrigerators, with their touch screens, and Alexa capability, I expect that we won't ever run out of food items again. "Alexa, order a head of lettuce, a jar of Mayo, a loaf of bread, and a jar of peanut butter, please".

Microsoft HoloLens - You Can Try It In Las Vegas

Microsoft HoloLens Events. One of the things I will miss by not being physically present at CES this year is the ability to get my hands on actual products, and trying them out. My highlight last year was the 15 minute demo of the Oculus Virtual Reality headset. Since you still need a high end desktop computer to use the Oculus headset and virtual gloves now, at a price of around $2,000, I won't be trying them again until the price comes down. But, even more exciting is the Microsoft Hololens, which will be available for demo and purchase in Las Vegas. Microsoft has created a virtual world that interacts with the real world, and the effect is amazing. Microsoft, take my money, please.
