I have been shooting parrots for a long time; first, with film and lately with digital cameras. One of my first digital images was this Red Browed Amazon, from Sarasota Jungle Gardens. Taken around 1998, the digital camera resolution back then was in the 2 megapixel range, which wasn't the sharpest. These days we are shooting raw images at 20 megapixels and higher. But, the image still has impact, because of the color contrast, and blurred background. I fell in love with parrots many years ago on a visit to Busch Gardens, and I still have home processed slides from back then. It never occurred to me that I would have the opportunity to provide a home for some of these beautiful creatures. Every time I interact with one of them, I realize that life can be as magical as it cam be tragic. What more can we ask out of our existence? So, this Sunday, reflect on the beauty around you. Don't let it pass by unnoticed. As Michael Wade, my favorite blogger says, "Find Something Beautiful".
